CTIA or CTIA Super Mobility 2016 media inquiries: SuperMobilityPR@ctia.org
LONDON, Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The IoT M2M Council (IMC), a trade group serving the nascent Internet of Things sector, has developed a software widget designed to help prepare managers for deploying connected devices in the field. The IMC's IoT Readiness Calculator, to be introduced at this week's CTIA Super Mobility 2016 exhibition in Las Vegas, will survey users about their business requirements as well as technical issues like security, latency, integration, and scalability. Uniquely, the survey tool will then compare the results with others polled in the same vertical end-use markets to provide a scorecard about project readiness.
Opt-in user data will be collected, and the software widget is also expected to be an excellent lead-generation tool for companies on the IMC's Board of Governors. "The IoT Readiness Calculator includes some fairly sophisticated algorithms to determine the individual score for a user's planned IoT project, and then shows how that project stacks up to others in the same field," says IMC executive director Keith Kreisher, "The users receive an email with their scores, as well as indication of where they need improvement, and advice on solutions providers to contact."
The first IMC board companies to deploy the widget will be Aeris, Intel, Kore, and Orbcomm, who will embed their websites with links to the survey tool. The software is designed to provide a seamless user experience, including host-company branding. "Several of our IMC board companies have developed similar tools, but the consensus was that earlier surveys weren't technical enough to provide a real assessment about project readiness. This widget was developed to address those issues for hands-on managers, as well as to provide leads to our sustaining companies," says Kreisher.
Only IMC Sustainer companies will be allowed to install the IoT Readiness Calculator, and first showing of the widget will be at the IMC's booth at the CTIA show in Las Vegas starting on 7 September 2016. The widget can be accessed at www.iotreadinesscalculator.org.
