Rohde & Schwarz Showcases its 5G Test Solutions at CTIA
5G is the next-generation mobile communications system expected to be commercially introduced in 2020. With ultra wide bandwidths and higher frequencies, the development of 5G chipsets, components and devices will require a unique mix of test and measurement equipment unlike 3G and 4G LTE.

COLUMBIA, Md., Sept. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rohde & Schwarz, Inc., an industry leader in mobile wireless test, has announced that it will demonstrate several key test systems for the development and test of 5G components and systems at this year's CTIA Super Mobility 2015. These systems will be showcased at the Rohde & Schwarz booth (space #3249) and as part of the CTIA sponsored 5G Innovation Lab (space #4315).

The next generation of mobile communications will push current design limits with higher peak data rates of 10Gbps, massive IoT device connectivity, higher network capacity (10,000x current network), reduced latency (< 1ms) and overall improved energy efficiency. "From a test and measurement perspective, this will require flexible, state-of-the-art test solutions that can align with a broad range of 5G requirements. More importantly, having these 5G test solutions available now will help propel forward research and development in a multitude of 5G related technologies and topics," said Andreas Roessler, Technology Manager for Rohde & Schwarz North America.

Rohde & Schwarz will be demonstrating a wide variety of its available 5G test solutions at CTIA 2015, including ultra-wideband signal analysis for 5G component and device development using the R&S FSW Signal and Spectrum Analyzer and R&S RTO Digital Oscilloscope. When used together, the R&S SMW Vector Signal Generator and the R&S FSW Signal and Spectrum Analyzer enable researchers to design and evaluate the many different candidates for 5G waveforms. For millimeter wave component test, the R&S ZVA Vector Network Analyzer seamlessly covers the frequency ranges required for 5G. Based on the industry leading R&S CMW500 Wideband Radio Communication Tester, the R&S CMW-PQA test system is used for testing Massive Machine Type Communications, which is a key development area in 5G.
